Hi I'm BethAnne!
I have been riding
horses since I was 8 years old. I was in 4H and Pony Club when I was younger and
showed hunter jumpers for years. My first horse that I owned was a 15yr old
quarter horse named Rocky. He was the best horse in the world and my best friend
(and we happened to born in the same year 1966 – talk about meant to be). I was
born on the same day as the Catholic saint St. Francis, which is the guardian
saint of the animals, and the year I was born was the Chinese Year of the
Horse. I guess you could say I was born to work with and for the animals. I am
a veterinary tech for Rancho Mesa Animal Hospital and have worked there for 20
years. I can’t imagine my life without horses or animals in it. Being with
horses is my happy place and my peace in this crazy world we live in! I have
been through some pretty terrible things in my life and have had major medical
battles to overcome, and my strength and perseverance I have learned from faith
in God and from my favorite teacher the Horse. In 2001 I volunteered my medical
background and horse experience to an organization called FoalQuest. They rescue
young horses from Canada that were being sold for meat as a byproduct of the
Premarin production farms. (See
FoalQuest Artical). It was with that organization that I
learned so much about the spirit and soul of horses. I adopted my first baby
from them, quite reluctantly I might add. She was a scraggly little red roan
filly that I named Heaven’s Little Bit of Sugar. She has turned out to be my
greatest teacher in my life. The next year I adopted 2 more babies- one for my
mother and one for my son. My son Eddie is the other light of my life, and
doesn’t quite have the horse bug like I did at his age, but he and his horse
Blue are soul mates- Blue chose Eddie when they came in. My life was not
complete until I might my soul mate David. He is my night in shining armor and
the love of my life. It only took forever to find him, but everything that led
up to that day was preparing us for each other. I can’t imagine my life without
Eddie, David or the horses and I thank God everyday for the blessings He has
given me in the 3 areas that mean the most to me.
